CRUX Hires Baillie Gifford Investment Manager to Lead Asian Equity Expansion

LONDON–(COMMERCIAL THREAD) – CRUX Asset Management Ltd. (“CRUX”), Equity Investment Manager, Announces Appointment of Baillie Gifford’s Asia Investment Director, Ewan Markson-Brown, to Lead Company Expansion in Asia with Two New Investment Strategies . Ewan will work with CRUX to establish a new office in Edinburgh.

The AAA * rated manager regularly outperformed the MSCI Asia ex-Japan index and was in charge of managing the Baillie Gifford Pacific fund, ranked in the top decile for its sector’s one, three and five-year performance **. Ewan’s appointment will allow CRUX to launch two actively managed regional equity strategies focused on long-term growth in the fourth quarter of this year. Focused on Asia ex-Japan and China, UCITS funds will seek to identify and exploit pricing inefficiencies in growing companies and leverage CRUX’s regional expertise in active equities to generate strong returns from investment in Asian stocks. CRUX will hire an investment team to support Ewan on the new strategies, including two analysts covering Greater China / Southeast Asia and India.

Ewan has spent over 20 years managing portfolios in emerging markets and Asia. He also co-managed the Baillie Gifford Emerging Markets All Cap Fund.

In March 2021, CRUX announced the appointment of Ashley Dale as Director of International Sales. Ash previously managed distribution for Asian specialists Mirae Asset, Harvest and CLSA.
