Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC) – Senior Investment Manager, Music (UK)

Reporting to the Creative Industries Manager, successful candidates will be key members of the team, supporting the direction, management and delivery of key investments and programs, developing new opportunities and demonstrating impact on both the mission of the Creative Industries team and the CCP. You will also work in partnership with a team from UKRI (in particular Innovate UK) and Digital Catapult, under the leadership of the challenge director. An important goal of these roles is to establish strong working relationships with relevant people and organizations (academic and non-academic) within AHRC, through UKRI and our external stakeholders.

Leadership / teamwork / collaboration

  • develop new initiatives within the team mission in relation to a portfolio of areas, including the commissioning of new projects and the definition of new potential activities
  • represent the AHRC at meetings, events and external committees, gathering information to inform AHRC’s foresight analysis, policy and strategy
  • contribute to the development of the future investment strategy and identify potential collaborations in connection with a portfolio of areas within the competence of the team
  • support and / or lead the development of offers for new UKRI funding in areas within the competence of the team

Delivery / programs / projects / processes

  • oversee the management of ongoing investments and commissioning activities relating to a portfolio of areas under the team’s competence
  • lead the collection, analysis and communication of information relating to the responsibilities of the team, provide expert advice, briefings and make recommendations to senior leaders of AHRC, its governing bodies and the community broader stakeholder base, if applicable
  • develop and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders according to your role, including representing the AHRC in relevant inter-UKRI groups
  • lead, manage and / or support strategic and corporate projects and project teams as needed across the AHRC and UKRI
  • develop strategic relationships with higher education institutions, independent research organizations, the research community, other research funders and broader national and international partners in order to broaden expertise and personal knowledge and effective collaborative programs

You will need:

  • an understanding of the work of UK Research and Innovation, and in particular the Arts & Humanities Research Council
  • a diploma or demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience of an equivalent standard
  • an understanding and enthusiasm for the arts and humanities, particularly in relation to the team’s mission
  • an understanding and enthusiasm for the creative industries and the wider creative economy
  • excellent interpersonal and relationship skills, with personal credibility and the ability to work effectively with a range of colleagues and stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • understanding of knowledge exchange and impact, including how to articulate it in the context of arts and humanities research
