Appian sold to UK investment manager Gresham House

UK asset manager Gresham House has completed the acquisition of Dublin-based investment group Appian Asset Management in a deal that values ​​it up to € 10 million.

Appian was founded in 2002 by Managing Director Patrick Lawless, who is a key shareholder alongside Greg Lawless and Kevin Menton. The company manages approximately € 350 million in assets and manages a range of funds that invest globally in traditional and alternative asset classes including stocks, real estate, infrastructure and forestry.

Appian will receive an initial amount of 4.55 million euros, with an additional payment subject to certain performance targets being met over the next three years.

Gresham House manages over € 4.5 billion in assets on behalf of institutions, family offices, associations and foundations, individuals and their advisers and is listed on the London Stock Exchange.

Mr Lawless, who will continue to lead the business in Ireland in the new role of Managing Director of Gresham House Ireland, said the acquisition would bring immediate benefits to institutional and private clients in Ireland and lead to the deployment of innovative investments products and strategies in the years to come.

“Our aim is to maintain and develop our existing fund offerings for clients in Ireland and to showcase Gresham House’s exceptional range of sustainable investments,” he said.

“This is an area of ​​huge growth internationally and we will be able to bring their leading investment strategies and platforms to our clients here in Ireland,” he added.
