Abrdn has appointed Sylvain Augoyard as Head of Sustainable Investments in Asia-Pacific.
His role will be to develop the firm’s sustainable investing capabilities across the region, including the APAC Sustainability Institute, a unit launched in July contribute to the development of the environmental, social and governance (ESG) investment ecosystem in Asia-Pacific.
Abrdn is the new name for Standard Life Aberdeen, a US$600 billion asset management company that renamed last year.
Augoyard will be based in Singapore. He joins a team led by Danielle Welsh-Rose, APAC ESG Investment Director.
Augoyard is leaving the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), where he held the position of vice president of the sustainable finance team in Asia. At WWF, he helped develop the tracker Sustainable Financial Regulation and Central Banking Activities (SUSREG), a tool that assesses the extent to which financial regulators and banks in the region integrate ESG factors into their practices.
Before the WWF, Augoyard was based in Paris. He spent nearly 10 years with the French multinational bank BNP Paribas, where he set up the bank’s environmental and social risk management and advisory framework.
